Position Overview
The Business Development Manager is responsible for growing NovaSourceโ€™s solar power plant and battery energy storage (BESS) business in North America. This role owns the sales process from initial client outreach through contract execution and handoff to Operations.

Youโ€™ll build trusted relationships with new and existing clients, develop tailored solutions, lead proposals, negotiate commercial terms, and close deals. You are the face of NovaSource during the sales process and are expected to represent the company with integrity, transparency, and confidence.

This role is best suited for someone who enjoys relationshipโ€‘driven B2B sales, understands the renewables industry, and is comfortable managing complex proposals and negotiations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Identification: Identify potential clients active in the North America Plants and BESS markets and complete appropriate research on their business and needs.
  • Outreach: Through personal and professional networks reach out to prospective clients to establish relationships with NovaSource.
  • Sales Meetings: Run in-person and videoconference sales meetings to explain NovaSourceโ€™s service offerings and value proposition, find opportunities to collaborate on, and understand the procurement process.
  • Proposal Management: Full management and execution responsibility for proposal development, working closely with NovaSourceโ€™s Cost Estimator, Contracts Manager, and Admin Team.
  • Proposal Follow Up: Follow up with the client to ensure NovaSource remains in the RFP process and amend the proposal to address client feedback.
  • Commercial Terms Alignment: Negotiate key commercial terms with the client to get a deal award.
  • Contract Negotiation: Collaborate with Contracts Manager to execute contracts.
  • Performance Tracking: Log and track all opportunities and account outreach in NovaSourceโ€™s CRM.
  • Relationship Management: Develop relationships with prospective clients, understanding their needs and offering tailored solutions to solve their unique problems. Maintain existing client relationships specific to renewals and onboarding of additional sites.
  • Market Research: Keep up to date on all news related to clients and industry trends.
  • Achieve Results: Meet or exceed quarterly and annual sales targets.

Ideal Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in business, engineering, construction, or a related fieldAt least 4 years of business development experience in the solar or renewables industry
  • Strong B2B sales background with measurable results

Location & Reporting

Ideally based in Chandler, AZ or Houston, TX, but the role is remote within North America.

Reports to the VP, Business Development.


Compensation

Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience, and will include an attractive base salary, quarterly commissions, and a comprehensive benefits package.


Education

A Bachelorโ€™s degree in business, construction, engineering or a related field is required, and Masterโ€™s Degree is preferred.
