Job Purpose
The Software Project Manager is a key member of the Project Management Office (PMO) responsible for end-to-end delivery outcomes for complex software and digitally enabled projects in an Agile/SAFe- based development environment. This focuses on a robust partnership between the Product Owner and Product Manager wherein this role focuses on enabling the project financially, maintaining schedule, and reporting back up into the PMO and the broader organization. While this role ensures the successful delivery of scope, schedule, and cost objectives through disciplined execution and proactive stakeholder engagement.
The Software Project Manager operates with a high degree of accountability negotiating between stakeholders to achieve clarity to deliverables. The project manager will own the reporting tools and reporting responsibilities for the project to the PMO and broader organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead software and system-based operating in a SAFe, Agile, or hybrid delivery model including multi-team cross-functional collaboration.
  • Develop and maintain delivery plans, outcome-based tracking, and release forecasts using PMO tooling (e.g., Planisware, Codebeamer).
  • Ensure project data is accurate, current, and complete, including schedule, risks, financials, and performance against plan.
  • Drive requirements and deliverable clarity in coordination with Product Management, Engineering, Quality, and Product Owner.
  • Anticipate risks and issues, take corrective action, and implement recovery strategies.
  • Coordinate cross-functional across Software Engineering, Product Management, IT, and Operations in Agile or hybrid delivery environments.
  • Report progress to leadership with clarity, highlighting risks, decisions, and actions.
  • Facilitate sprint, milestone, and release reviews, ensuring alignment between development progress and committed delivery outcomes.
  • Support release planning, deployment coordination, and post-launch stabilization.
  • Continuously optimize delivery against business and customer outcomes, challenge process, ceremony, or tooling that does not improve flow, predictability, or value delivery.
  • Drive accountability across teams, ensuring commitments are clear and met.
  • This role is instrumental in budgeting and estimating future phases for the purposes of funding (AR approval, Change Request, etc.) through the leadership of cross-functional teams.
  • This role must be adept at managing outside partners and internal resources together in a blended team, providing accountability with speed and flexibility to keep outside resources engaged and internal resources fully utilized while minimizing fixed overhead and maximizing resource flexibility. Own cross-team dependency identification, tracking, and mitigation to protect release outcomes in multi-team Agile environments.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5-10+ years of project management experience, including software or system-based projects. Candidate must have Agile, SAFe Agile, or hybrid experience. Experience with Azure Dev Ops is strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing cross-functional software development efforts with multiple dependencies.
  • Experience with project and requirements management tools (e.g., Planisware, Codebeamer, Jira, Azure DevOps).
  • Strong communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills.
