Job description

Markon is seeking a Software Engineer to support the Fort Meade Customer in a mission-focused environment. This role supports the design, development, and integration of analytics and data processing capabilities, with a strong emphasis on Java-based development, distributed processing, and cloud-enabled platforms. The Software Engineer will work closely with mission partners and engineering teams to deliver scalable solutions that support analytic and operational objectives.


  • Design, develop, and maintain Java-based software applications supporting mission requirements.
  • Develop and support distributed data processing solutions, including MapReduce frameworks.
  • Support development and integration of analytics across cloud-based environments.
  • Work with analytic platforms such as GhostMachine and QTA to support capability development and execution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate mission needs into technical solutions.
  • Support testing, integration, and deployment of software capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and code artifacts.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software issues across development and operational environments.

Required Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph with this Customer. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline plus 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong experience developing software using Java.
  • Experience with MapReduce or similar distributed processing frameworks.
  • Experience working in cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with GhostMachine and QTA analytic platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, mission-driven environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

USD $180,000.00 - USD $200,000.00 /Yr.
