Job description

What You Will Do:
As a Software Engineer at Independent Software, you will contribute to the development, enhancement, and modernization of mission-critical applications supporting Department of Defense and Intelligence Community customers. You will work as part of a collaborative Agile/Scrum team developing Java-based applications with Angular front ends and PostgreSQL backends while supporting modernization efforts involving Spring Boot, containerization, microservices, and cloud technologies.
You will participate in the full software development lifecycle including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and deployment while helping deliver capabilities in a fast-paced mission environment.
Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Develop, test, debug, and maintain Java and Angular applications.
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs and service integrations.
  • Develop and maintain PostgreSQL database components and queries.
  • Support application modernization efforts, including Spring Boot migration, microservices, and containerization.
  • Implement document parsing and data processing capabilities.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum development activities and four-week sprint cycles.
  • Perform code reviews, troubleshooting, testing, and technical documentation.
  • Utilize GitLab CI/CD, Jira, and Confluence to support software delivery.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
 
  • Experience developing software using Java.
  • Experience developing web applications using Angular or similar front-end frameworks.
  • Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
  • Experience working with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.
  • Experience supporting application modernization efforts.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum development teams.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.

Education and Experience:
Level 2
  •  Fourteen (14) years of experience as a Software Engineer supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
OR
  • Eighteen (18) years of experience as a Software Engineer supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
Level 3
  • Twenty (20) years of experience as a Software Engineer supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
OR
  • Twenty-four (24) years of experience as a Software Engineer supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
     

Clearance Requirement:
 

  • Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
