Job description

Job Title: Early Childhood Care Center Director

Job Purpose:

Alim Academy in Potomac, MD is looking for an Early Childhood Care Center Director who is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the early childhood care center, ensuring that all children receive high-quality care and education in a safe and nurturing environment. The director is responsible for managing staff, creating and implementing policies and procedures, managing budgets, and communicating with parents and the community.

Key Responsibilities:

Staff Management

  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate teachers, caregivers and other staff

  • Ensure that staff adhere to all policies and procedures

  • Develop and maintain a positive and supportive work environment

  • Plan and conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions

Program Management

  • Develop and implement an age-appropriate and educational curriculum that meets the needs of all children

  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and make improvements as needed

  • Ensure that all program materials and equipment are in good condition and meet safety standards

  • Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, agencies, and other educational providers

  • Develop and maintain registration process for new and existing children

  • Ensure that the daycare center complies with all local, state, and federal regulations and requirements

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage a budget for the daycare center

  • Ensure that all financial records and reports are accurate and up-to-date

  • Develop and implement strategies to improve revenue and reduce costs

  • Manage the procurement of supplies and materials

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for regulatory purposes

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance

Parent and Community Communication

  • Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers about the progress and development of their children

  • Develop and implement strategies to increase parent involvement in the center

  • Foster positive relationships with the community and promote the center's programs and services

Requirements:

  • An associates degree in early childhood with at least 15 semester hours of approved coursework, OR a bachelor’s degrees in any field

  • 6 semester, 90 clock hours of the equivalent of approved early childhood coursework (45 hours child development and 45 hours curriculum planning) OR hold the Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential issues by the Council for Professional Recognition OR Approved by the Maryland State Department of Education as a teacher for Nursery - Grade 3 OR Hold a teaching certificate from the MSDE or another state for Nursery - Grade 3

  • 2 years of experience working with preschoolers in an approved setting (licensed child care center, nursery school, religious operated school, recreation and parks program, registered family child care home or similar setting) OR

  • If approved or certified to teach, 1 year of experience working with preschoolers in an approved setting

  • At leanest 9 clock hours of approved training in communicating with staff, parents (may be met through the successful completion of at least 1 academic college course taken for credit)

  • 40-45 clock hours or the equivalent of approved administrative training

  • Have completed 45 clock hour or the equivalent of approved coursework and approved training in supporting breastfeeding practices

  • 3 clock hours in ADA Compliance

  • Within 6 months after date of hire, complete a regulation training

  • Knowledge of child development and early childhood education theories and practices

  • Experience in staff management and development

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage budgets and financial resources

  • Understanding of regulatory compliance requirements and ability to develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance

  • Familiarity with technology and software relevant to the childcare industry

  • Ability to report on-site at least 50% of the time
