R&D Project Manager positions offered by ABB Inc. (Bartlesville, Oklahoma). Responsible for the introduction of new products (NPI) into the market domain, specifically Gas Chromatographs. Lead and support local and cross-functional project teams, including associate R&D project managers, in projects with limited complexity and / or sub-projects of a complex project. Create and coordinate cross-functional plans that involve Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Process Engineering, and Supply Chain teams. Accountable for the end-to-end planning, coordination, execution, and delivery of assigned project(s). Engage stakeholders in defining value and integrates feedback into activities. Monitor and control progress, cost/financials, and quality. Utilize the appropriate metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to provide early detection of project deviations and facilitate data-driven decision-making and transparency. Ensure that changes, risks, and issues are properly assessed, managed, and communicated. Design and develop mechanical, hardware, and software solutions required for product realization. Serve as the key contact and escalation point for project stakeholders. Ensure projects follow sound methodology and execution practices, aligned with desired development model (e.g., predictive/waterfall, iterative/agile, hybrid) and in accordance with applicable ABB internal directives and procedures as well as external standards, etc., that influence activities and targets. Participate and encourage participation of R&D Associate Project Managers in Communities of Practice.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field and 6 years of experience working in project or program management.

  • Must have 6 years of experience in each of the following:

    • Planning, coordinating, and managing complex projects with cross functional teams;

    • Working with multiple releases and projects for multiple products and in coordination with other Program Managers;

    • Developing detailed project plans consisting of the following: detailed schedules, budget, risk, risk mitigation, and staffing allocation and planning;

    • Coordinating with teams using the agile development methodology;

    • Taking embedded products from concept through to production;

    • Establishing or optimizing product development, innovation strategy, or technology commercialization;

    • Directing projects through New Product Introductions and Stage Gate model;

    • Coordinating software, hardware, and mechanical projects and planning with task allocation and monitoring;

    • Communicating program status, roadmaps, and technical insights to stakeholders;

    • Driving continuous improvement in program execution and delivery;

    • Providing technical leadership and guidance across engineering disciplines; and

    • Driving teams towards Quality activities for multi-component products, ensuring compliance with industrial standards.

  • Must be willing to travel domestically 15% and internationally 5%.

  • Experience may be, but need not be, acquired concurrently.

  • Position reports to Bartlesville, OK office. Telecommuting permitted in accordance with company policy, but must live within commuting distance of stated office.
