Position Overview
Colorado Doorways, Inc. is seeking a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Project Manager - Apprentice. This entry-level role is designed for someone eager to learn the door and hardware industry from the ground up. We are not looking for industry experience - we will provide that. What we are looking for is someone with strong organizational skills, high computer literacy, and the drive to contribute immediately in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Working alongside our experienced sales and project management teams, you will gain hands-on exposure to some of the most significant commercial construction projects shaping Colorado today. This role offers a genuine pathway for professional growth and advancement within one of the Rocky Mountain region's most respected and established companies in the door and hardware industry.

Key Responsibilities
Project & Contract Administration
  • Review contract documentation, including change orders to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain organized records pertaining to each contract, including items purchased, costs, delivery schedules, and correspondence.
  • Assist in tracking project milestones, material lead times, and delivery timelines to support on-time project completion.
Purchasing & Coordination
  • Coordinate material purchasing in collaboration with the purchasing team, ensuring orders are placed accurately and on schedule.
  • Coordinate with the shop fabrication teams to align production schedules with project delivery requirements.
  • Assist with delivery scheduling and logistics to ensure materials arrive to job sites on time
Customer & Team Communication
  • Serve as a point of contact for customers to answer questions, provide project status updates, and assist in resolving issues or problems.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams - including sales, purchasing, shop, and field operations - to keep projects moving smoothly.
  • Prepare and distribute written correspondence, project documentation, and updates as needed.
Learning & Development
  • Actively learn product lines, industry terminology, and project management processes under the guidance of experienced team members.
  • Participate in training programs and continuing education opportunities provided by Colorado Doorways.
  • Take initiative in developing knowledge of the door, frame, hardware, and security integration industry.

Required Qualifications & Skills
Core Competencies
  • Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities simultaneously.
  • High computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to learn proprietary systems quickly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional, customer-focused demeanor.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in documentation, data entry, and correspondence.
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to daily attendance in a team-oriented office environment.
Experience
  • Prior experience in an office, administrative, or project coordination role is preferred but not required.
  • No prior door and hardware or construction industry experience is necessary - a willingness to learn is what matters most.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a construction, building products, or related industry environment.
  • Familiarity with project management or ERP software platforms.
  • Prior customer service or client-facing experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned tasks.
