Job description

As the Solution Delivery Manager, you will lead one or more software engineering teams responsible for designing, building, testing, deploying, and supporting high-quality software products. You will combine technical leadership, people management, and delivery accountability to ensure engineering teams deliver reliable, scalable, and secure solutions aligned with business objectives.

This Engineering Manager develops engineering talent, drives continuous improvement, partners closely with Product Management and Architecture, and fosters an engineering culture focused on ownership, innovation, quality, and customer value.

Individual in this role is expected to work at least 3 days per week in our West Des Moines, Iowa office

What you'll do:

People Leadership

  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and career development planning
  • Hire, onboard, and retain high-performing engineering talent
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing engineering culture
  • Address performance issues and recognize outstanding contributions

Product Delivery

  • Ensure projects are delivered on schedule with high quality
  • Remove delivery impediments and proactively manage risks
  • Partner with Product Managers and Product Owners on prioritization and release planning
  • Drive predictable sprint execution and continuous improvement

Engineering excellence

  • Establish and reinforce engineering standards in building products of high quality, easy to maintain, scale effectively, and are highly secure
  • Partner with technical leads and architects on technical direction and engineering decisions
  • Champion AI-first mindset across the organization
  • Participate in developing new business proposals
  • Seen as a change agent in the organization

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure all the established SLA’s/SLO’s are met
  • Identify the risks, dependencies, and constraints proactively, and take corrective actions to ensure maximum customer satisfaction

Collaboration & teamwork

  • Manage relationships between Solution Delivery and other functional areas to ensure good client relations
  • Resolve issues and determine and implement appropriate course of action
  • Manage and ensure delivery of projects meet client and company expectations and needs
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Four-year degree in business administration, engineering, computer science, information systems or related field and/or experience
  • Seven to ten years of experience in software engineering, product development, or related technology experience.;
  • Three to Five years of managing and/or leading software engineering teams.
  • Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices.
  • Experience with Java, React, APIs, microservices, and modern application architectures
  • Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, cloud platforms (AWS), and DevSecOps practices
  • Experience with observability and application performance monitoring platforms
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, or Github Copilot
  • Strong communication, coaching, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Individual in this role is expected to work at least 3 days per week in our West Des Moines, Iowa office
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Experience working with proposals which include development of project and resource plans
  • Experience working in healthcare, government, financial services, or another regulated environment
