Senior Software Configuration Management (SCM) Specialist - Dallas, TX (Hybrid) - 12+ Month Contract
About the Role
Step into a pivotal Senior Software Configuration Management (SCM) Specialist position within our dynamic Code Management team in Dallas, TX. As a key driver of infrastructure modernization, you will enhance our automation ecosystem, optimize CI/CD pipelines, and ensure robust, secure, and scalable code management practices. This is a unique chance to shape the future of our DevOps landscape, collaborate cross-functionally, and drive high-impact projects in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead strategic projects to modernize software configuration and deployment infrastructure
- Optimize and maintain CI/CD workflows using Gitlab, Ansible Automation Platform, and Terraform Enterprise
- Architect and manage scalable, secure, and compliant pipelines
- Automate operational tasks and incident remediation for improved efficiency
- Onboard application teams onto Gitlab workflows, offering guidance and best practices
- Develop clear runbooks, wiki documentation, and reusable pipeline templates
- Implement policies and guardrails to uphold code quality, compliance, and security
- Troubleshoot and swiftly resolve CI/CD or migration-related incidents
- Provide 24/7 on-call support as part of a collaborative team
Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years in Software Configuration Management with expertise in Gitlab
- Proficiency in Terraform and Ansible
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes/OpenShift containerization
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud
- Strong communication skills and proven cross-team collaboration
- Solid grasp of SDLC methodologies and branching strategies (Gitflow, Gitlab Flow)
- Experience configuring Gitlab Runners, Groups, Projects, and Permissions at scale
Preferred Skills
- JFrog administration experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience with scripting/programming capabilities
- GitLab Certified Administrator
- Recent experience with GitLab Self-Managed administration
- Background in build management, configuration management, or quality testing
- Familiarity with Agile, continuous integration, and continuous deployment practices
