GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Software Configuration Management Specialist manages complex software configurations with variants across multiple platforms for domestic and international defense industry customers. The incumbent defines configuration items and integrated development environments (IDE); controls access, changes, and versions; builds and documents configuration items; and conducts configuration status accounting and audits.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The duties and responsibilities listed below apply to all levels of Software Configuration Management Specialist. Each level of Software Configuration Management Specialist has additional duties and responsibilities listed and builds on the previous level(s).

  • Facilitate the implementation of the Software development environment utilizing the Atlassian tool set including but not limited to:
    • Monitor JIRA requests for issues with the software development environment
    • Implement solutions to JIRA requests as necessary
    • Generate interim test builds, branches and version releases
    • Generate necessary software documentation as required
    • Other duties may be assigned.

Software Configuration Management Specialist II

  • Implements JIRA requests under minimal supervision of a senior level Software Configuration Management Specialist
  • Monitors JIRA requests for issues with the software development environment.
  • Generate interim and test builds, branches and version releases.
  • Document software releases in formal documents, such as Software Version Descriptions
  • Act as facilitator in the Software Review Board and the Configuration Control Board.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • None

Compensation: $100,000 - $110,000


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Required:

  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.
  • Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.
  • Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary.
  • Ability to adhere to workplace rules.
  • A solid understanding of Configuration Management best practices including branching strategies.
  • Ability to develop configuration management processes, train staff, and enforce use.
  • Ability to write clear technical documents, including engineering change proposals.
  • Ability to create and analyze configuration status accounting records.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship).

Preferred:

  • Prefer familiarity with applying ITAR and company proprietary data limitations to software configuration management.
  • Experience using and customizing SCM tools [e.g., StarTeam (preferred), ClearCase, Subversion].
  • Prefer experience as a software developer and SCCM on real-time embedded software for a Defense contractor.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:

Software Configuration Management Specialist II

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline. Commensurate work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Three or more years as a Software Engineer

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Office and or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones)
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds in accordance with KUAS General Safety Training guidelines.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10-20% May be required to and from other KUAS locations
