Software Configuration Management Specialist- Seattle, WA (On-site)
Overview
The Select Group is seeking a Software Configuration Management Specialist who combines strong technical, research, and analytical capabilities with the ability to execute quickly and effectively. This individual must be comfortable working alongside highly skilled developers and collaborating with engineering and research teams.
The position requires someone who can operate effectively in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background spanning multiple engineering disciplines and will work closely with Systems Engineers, Hardware Development Engineers, and Software Development Engineers to establish and support effective software configuration management mechanisms.
This individual will identify gaps, clearly communicate risks, and propose practical solutions. The ideal candidate will offer both broad engineering knowledge and demonstrated hands-on experience managing the configuration of complex software systems.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, another technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience
  • At least three years of software configuration management or software configuration control experience
  • Experience working within aerospace regulatory environments
  • Experience managing software configuration processes throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work across systems, hardware, software, and research teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with DO-178C software configuration management
  • Demonstrated delivery of large, cross-functional technical projects
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely to different audiences
  • Experience developing frameworks or simplified tools used to support complex applications
  • Experience improving configuration management tools, workflows, and processes
Responsibilities
  • Perform software configuration management and configuration control activities across complex aerospace systems and software development programs.
  • Establish, maintain, and enforce configuration management processes, standards, procedures, and controls throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Manage configuration baselines, software releases, version control, change requests, and related documentation to maintain accuracy and traceability.
  • Partner with Systems Engineers, Hardware Development Engineers, Software Development Engineers, and research teams to identify configuration gaps and implement effective solutions.
  • Review proposed configuration changes for completeness, technical impact, compliance, and alignment with established engineering and regulatory requirements.
  • Support audits and compliance activities within aerospace regulatory environments, ensuring configuration records and processes meet applicable standards, including DO-178C.
  • Identify process deficiencies, discrepancies, and risks; communicate findings to technical stakeholders and drive timely resolution.
  • Develop and enhance configuration management tools, workflows, and processes to improve efficiency, scalability, and reliability across complex technical programs.
