Position Overview:
Electra is seeking a Configuration Management Specialist to lead configuration management activities across Electra. This role will focus on maintaining the integrity of data and hardware, ensuring that all documents, hardware and software are controlled, documented and managed efficiently, helping to minimize risks, improve system performance, and support successful project outcomes. This is an incredible opportunity to make a direct impact on a cutting-edge development program.
Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:
  • Develop and implement configuration management policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Identify and define hardware, software, and documentation to be controlled under configuration management.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date records of all system configurations.
  • Implement version control to track changes in software, hardware, and documentation.
  • Manage change requests and coordinate the approval process for modifications to configuration items.
  • Conduct impact analysis on proposed changes and ensure compliance with configuration management processes.
  • Maintain records and databases of configuration items, including their current status, history, and changes. Ensure that records are accurate, complete, and readily accessible for auditing and decision-making.
  • Conduct regular configuration audits to verify that the system's configuration matches its documented specifications and requirements.
  • Coordinate Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings to review proposed changes and assess their impact.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams consisting of engineering, operations, program leadership, suppliers and certification leads, to ensure configuration is managed effectively.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Extensive experience with Sharepoint and Office 365

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience in configuration management and/or systems administration in the aerospace field.
  • Deep knowledge of configuration management methodologies, processes, and industry best practices.
  • Familiarity with managing software releases and understanding the dependencies between various configuration items (e.g., software versions, hardware specifications).
  • Experience with conducting audits, documentation management, and ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations or standards.
  • Knowledge of the entire system lifecycle (e.g., requirements, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance) and how configuration management integrates into each phase.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience developing company- and program-level configuration management processes.
  • Experience leading configuration management activities on a commercial aircraft development program.
  • Experience managing data in PLM systems (preferably Teamcenter).
  • Experience managing version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN).
  • Experience managing software deployment, release management, and patching processes.

  • Headquarters in Manassas, VA. To encourage close collaboration this position is strongly preferred to be on-site.

Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in a warehouse/aviation and office environment, which requires proper safety precautions. Work may require some physical effort in handling light materials, boxes, power tools, prototypes, and different materials or equipment. Due to the nature of our business and projects, some fieldwork may be required, working in both indoor and outdoor conditions. You may need to lift up to 50 lbs.
