Job description

Applications Engineer
Applications Engineers develop concepts and proposals for custom automated test systems that support Cincinnati Test Systems' growth objectives. Working closely with the sales team, this role serves as the primary technical resource during the proposal process by helping customers identify practical solutions for their testing needs.
This position requires an understanding of controls and measurement systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, automation, and mechanical design. The ideal candidate can communicate clearly, solve technical problems, and work effectively with both customers and internal teams.
Your Day-to-Day
  • Work with the sales team to develop solutions based on customer requirements.
  • Meet with customers to understand applications, technical requirements, and project goals.
  • Prepare proposals, system concepts, quotations, and bills of materials.
  • Review previous projects and designs to improve accuracy and reduce errors.
  • Support customers and sales representatives with technical information during the sales process.
  • Coordinate with engineering and operations teams to confirm proposed solutions are practical and achievable.
  • Stay informed on new technologies, products, and industry developments related to automated test systems.
  • Maintain relationships with existing customers and help identify new business opportunities.
  • Provide occasional travel support for customer visits, sales meetings, and field support activities.

What You Bring to the Team
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience may also be considered.
  • Understanding of automation systems, controls, pneumatics, hydraulics, instrumentation, and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Experience preparing technical proposals, estimates, or engineered system solutions preferred.
  • Ability to interpret customer requirements and develop practical technical solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Proficiency with standard business software applications.
  • Project management or customer-facing engineering experience preferred.
