Position Overview
The role of Analyst/Associate on the Valuation and Strategic Analysis (VSA) team provides an excellent opportunity for a finance professional to see all facets of the private equity industry. As a member of the VSA team, one of your primary responsibilities will be to assist with the quarterly valuation of PSG's portfolio companies, in accordance with ASC 820. You will also work with all other teams within the company, assisting with various projects. Some of these projects include portfolio monitoring, fund performance analysis, ad hoc LP requests, fundraising, and benchmarking.
The pay range for this position is $75,000 to $125,000 annually. The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, and certifications or other professional qualifications.
Responsibilities
  • Assisting with valuation analysis on a wide range of public and private entities within various industries using accepted and relevant approaches and theory
  • Preparing valuation-related materials for financial reporting and fundraising purposes
  • Performing in-depth industry and market research
  • Working in conjunction with deal teams to gather financial information data pertinent to the portfolio companies
  • Responding to investor and due diligence requests
  • Creating ad hoc reports for various departments throughout the firm
  • Assisting in preparing and presenting the results of each analysis in a clear and concise manner.

Ideal Experience and Competencies
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
  • CFA, MBA or other advanced degree preferred
  • 1 - 3 years' experience, preferably in a valuation role
  • Strong analytical, comprehension and problem-solving skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with OPM / contingent claims analyses is a plus
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments and manage changing assignments in a team environment
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Experience coordinating with various teams in investment management is a plus (e.g., tax, accounting, compliance, etc.)
