Description
The BankWork$® Instructor's primary responsibility is to provide coaching and training sessions to participants of the BankWork$® program utilizing existing curriculum and training materials as well as developing additional curriculum in soft skills, business acumen, and job search techniques to support the transition of participants to full employment. Secondary responsibilities include working with team members at the Institute for Career Opportunity (ICO) to recruit, evaluate and screen candidates for enrollment and to provide business outreach to all area banks to develop job opportunities for graduates by cultivating and maintaining relationships with bank recruiters and managers.
Requirements
  • The successful candidate will be an outcomes-driven individual with a strong customer service orientation and a minimum of three to five years' experience demonstrating success in a variety of disciplines
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in social services, social work, education, business or related field. An equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Must have minimum three years' experience working in a retail banking environment
  • Must have minimum two years' experience conducting classroom training for adults
  • Experience working with multi-cultural and/or low- to moderate-income and/or disadvantaged populations
  • One to two years' experience in client recruitment, enrollment and career assessment and planning is a plus
  • Proficient in use of PC, Microsoft Office Suite and Internet tools; able to deliver curriculum using a Learning Management System and assist students in accessing the LMS and online job search tools
  • Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative manner required with an ability to interact effectively with program participants, employers, program funders, JVS staff and other parties.
  • Must model professional behavior (communication, punctuality, professional appearance, etc.)
  • Strong career development and coaching skills, organizational skills, resourcefulness, initiative, entrepreneurial spirit, and attention to detail
  • Ability to perform comfortably in a business and social service environment
  • Strong written and oral communication/presentation skills
  • Duties and responsibilities are carried out with considerable independence within the framework of established policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Must have reliable transportation for conveyance to locations around greater Los Angeles

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Use provided curriculum materials to deliver retail bank training classes responsive to the needs of the banking industry.
  • Provide individual and group job preparation to develop the habits and attitudes needed to be successful in the workplace
  • Coach clients in developing job skills, resumes, cover letters etc. and provide clients with job search information including assistance completing on-line job applications
  • Closely coordinate with Director to maximize participant placement in employment in banking positions
  • Interview candidates for enrollment and administer testing to determine eligibility
  • Maintain accurate documentation on classroom performance and participation for each student enrolled in the program.
  • Delivers instruction at other locations as needed.
  • Show demonstrated ability to interact with people of different cultures.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by management

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to operate standard office equipment; will work in business, classroom and other various settings; frequently stands, walks, sits and climbs in performing duties in the office and at offsite locations; required to talk and hear, both in person and by telephone, use computers and standard office equipment; frequently lifts and carries up to 5lbs, occasionally up to 25lbs.

Salary Rate
$29.00 - $32.00 per hour + benefits
