Job description

At CHOP - Soar Autism Center, we are dedicated to enhancing the lives of young children on the autism spectrum. As we continue to innovate and build a better model of care for kids, the role of the Youth Learning Assistant (also called a Behavior Technician or Registered Behavior Technician) plays a key part in helping children learn and grow every day.
Our approach draws from the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM), a fun, play-based form of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy. By joining our team, you'll use play, creativity, and compassion to support children's developmental progress and help them reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-on-one play-based learning sessions to children aged 2-6 in our clinic setting
  • Implement individualized therapy plans designed by Masters-level clinicians using evidence-based principles from ABA
  • Use play, positive reinforcement, and daily routines to help children build communication, social, and learning skills
  • Partner closely with families, sharing updates and celebrating each child's growth
  • Participate in ongoing training and supervision to earn and maintain RBT certification

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma, or equivalent, is required. Strong preference for candidates enrolled in or who have completed a degree program (bonus for majors in Child Development, Psychology, Education, or related fields)
  • Enjoyment and experience working with children. This can be through child care, teaching, coaching, or volunteer work
  • Ability to achieve and maintain RBT certification within the first 6 weeks of employment (CHOP - Soar Autism Center provides paid training)
    • RBT certification required for our Colorado Springs location
  • Reliable transportation to training and center locations; punctuality is essential
  • Physical ability to sit or kneel on the floor, lift up to 50 lbs., and move quickly to support a child's needs
  • Comfort using computers and tablets for session documentation
  • Team-oriented mindset and willingness to learn and grow

What We Offer:
  • $21.50 - $28.50/hour with regular bonus and promotion opportunities. The initial offer hourly pay will be between $21.50 - $22.75. All staff members are considered every 3 months for a raise or promotion
  • Comprehensive health benefits, including medical, dental, and vision plans
  • Student loan repayment and tuition reimbursement benefits
  • Priority access for in-network mental health support through our partnership with Sol Mental Health
  • Opportunities for career exploration in Behavior Analysis, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, and other roles
  • A guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week for full-time roles
  • Supportive training for RBT certification and ABA therapy best practices
  • Tons of support from our multi-disciplinary team
  • A collaborative and fun environment where every team member's contribution is valued

At CHOP - Soar Autism Center, we believe children learn best through play and so do our team members. As a Youth Learning Assistant, you'll make every session a chance to connect, explore, and create moments of joy and progress. You'll gain hands-on experience in a mission-driven environment that blends science, compassion, and teamwork to help every child soar.
Join CHOP - Soar Autism Center as a Youth Learning Assistant (Behavior Technician / RBT) and help us build brighter futures through play and learning.
Applications for this position will be accepted on a rolling basis.
