What jobs pay $500,000 a year in the US?

In the renewable energy sector, roles such as senior solar project developers, executive-level positions, and specialized engineering consultants can reach or exceed $500,000 annually, especially with experience, performance bonuses, and profit sharing. High-level management and business development roles within solar companies may also achieve this income level, often requiring advanced skills, industry knowledge, and a strong network.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Smart Solar Technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Smart Solar Technician, you need a solid understanding of electrical systems, solar technology, and renewable energy principles, often supported by a relevant technical diploma or degree. Familiarity with solar panel installation tools, monitoring software, and certifications such as NABCEP are typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication help technicians excel in diagnosing issues and interacting with clients. Mastering these skills ensures safe, efficient installation and maintenance of solar systems, maximizing energy output and customer satisfaction.

What are Smart Solar jobs?

Smart Solar jobs refer to roles involved in the design, installation, maintenance, and management of solar energy systems that incorporate smart technology. These positions often require knowledge of solar panels, energy storage, monitoring software, and IoT devices to optimize energy production and efficiency. What jobs will no longer exist in 2030?

In the context of the solar industry, roles such as traditional manual labor jobs like basic installation workers may decline as automation and robotics become more prevalent. Additionally, some administrative or manual data entry positions could diminish with advancements in digital management tools, but specialized roles like solar engineers and technicians are expected to grow. Job description

Solar Alternatives is hiring an Inside Technical Sales rep to work with existing solar homeowners and businesses who need service, upgrades, or system expansions. This is not cold-calling strangers โ€” you'll be talking to people who already own solar and need help.

You'll diagnose what customers need over the phone, build quotes for service work, battery additions, EV charger installs, panel upgrades, and technology swaps, then hand off to our field team for execution. Think of it as part technical advisor, part sales closer.

The tech you'll work with: solar panels (Enphase, SolarEdge, Tesla), battery backup systems (Tesla Powerwall, FranklinWH, EG4, Generac), EV chargers, SPAN smart panels, and monitoring platforms. Training is provided โ€” but curiosity about how these systems work will set you apart.

Why Solar Alternatives?

We're a New Orleans-based solar company that's been in business for 15+ years. We install, service, and stand behind our work โ€” and that reputation is why customers call us back. You'll work out of our Harahan, LA office with a small team that has direct access to leadership. Competitive base salary plus commission, real training, and the chance to grow into a career in clean energy.

Requirements

  • 1+ year in inside sales, customer service, or call center work (outbound experience is a plus)
  • Comfortable talking to customers on the phone and over email all day
  • Able to learn technical product details and explain them in plain language
  • Organized โ€” you'll manage leads, follow-ups, and project data in our CRM (Salesforce & FieldPulse)
  • Persuasive but honest โ€” we want customers to trust SA, not feel sold to
  • Reliable schedule and availability during business hours
  • Interest in solar, batteries, or clean energy tech (experience is a bonus, not required)

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary + uncapped commission
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Two weeks paid leave + 7 paid holidays
  • Product and sales training from day one
  • Professional tools: CRM, VOIP phone system, monitoring dashboards
  • In-office role โ€” Harahan, LA
  • Work that actually matters โ€” you're helping your community go solar
