Job description

Turf Equipment, of Belmont, is seeking an experienced small-engine mechanic to join the team!

This position will likely begin on a part-time/probationary basis, then expand to full-time based on ability level & availability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing incoming equipment
  • Cleaning and lubricating engine parts, checking fluid levels, sharpening blades, and replacing air filters
  • Taking apart small engines to identify worn or damaged parts
  • Replacing basic components like spark plugs, spark plug wires, air filters, and fuel lines
  • Performing carburetor rebuilds, and other common reapairs
  • Assisting in identifying engine malfunctions by listening to sounds, observing symptoms, and using basic diagnostic tools
  • Performing repairs according to established guidelines and manufacturer specifications
  • Keeping track of repair details, parts used, and customer information

Minimum Qualifications & Standards

To perform this work successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Must have at least 1-year of experience working on lawnmowers and/or snowblowers in a professional setting
  • Must be able to squat, bend and work in confined areas for extended periods of time
  • Nature of job requires that you must squat, bend, and lift (up to 50 lbs.) repetitively
  • Must not be sensitive/allergic to gas, diesel or any of the compounds or solvents used to clean, paint or lubricate equipment
  • Must be able to wear the required safety protective devices
  • Must be able to understand and carry out both written and oral instructions
  • Must have a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and submit to a background check
