Is small engine repair a good side hustle?

Small engine repair can be a viable side hustle for those with mechanical skills and knowledge of engine components, tools, and troubleshooting. It often involves flexible hours and the potential to work on equipment like lawnmowers, chainsaws, and generators, making it suitable for part-time work or supplemental income. Success depends on skill level, local demand, and the ability to source parts efficiently.

What are small engine parts?

Small engine parts are components used in the repair and maintenance of engines typically found in lawn mowers, chainsaws, generators, and other power equipment. These parts include items like spark plugs, carburetors, air filters, fuel filters, ignition coils, and gaskets. They are essential for ensuring your equipment runs efficiently and reliably. Replacing worn or damaged small engine parts can help extend the life of your equipment and maintain its performance.

How much to charge hourly for small engine repair?

Small engine repair technicians typically charge between $50 and $100 per hour, depending on experience, location, and the complexity of the repair. Rates may vary based on whether the work is performed at a shop or on-site, and some professionals include parts and diagnostics in their fees.

What are some typical daily tasks for someone working in Small Engine Parts, and how do they interact with other team members?

In a Small Engine Parts role, daily tasks often include identifying and sourcing the correct parts for customer repairs, managing inventory, processing orders, and providing technical support to customers or technicians. Team members also work closely with sales staff and warehouse personnel to maintain efficient operations and keep customers satisfied.

How much money does a small engine repair shop make?
