Beacon Health System is hiring a full-time night shift Medical Lab Technician for our lab at Plainwell Hospital in Plainwell, MI.
 

Full time. 40 hrs/week. 10 hour shifts.  1100-2130 with weekend rotation

About Beacon Kalamazooa 
Beacon Kalamazoo provides 24/7 emergency care and a Level II Trauma Center. We deliver care for serious life-threatening injuries/illnesses, and your everyday health needs, including labor and delivery. We offer specialty care for heart/vascular disease, lung and sleep disorders, mental health conditions, and women’s health. We offer a wide range of outpatient services, including diagnostic imaging, lab tests, respiratory therapy and rehabilitation therapy services.aa 

What You’ll Do

As a Medical Lab Technician, you’ll perform routine diagnostic and analytic testing of laboratory specimens.

Medical Lab Technician Job Responsibilities

  • Performs, validates, interprets, documents and reports test results under the supervision of a medical technologist/medical laboratory scientist.
  • Conducts quality control and quality assurance testing.
  • Performs instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Maintains supplies needed for performance of tests.
  • Assists with data collection and special projects.
  • Understands and participates in all aspects of clinical laboratory testing: pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical. May collect and process specimens.
  • Trains and mentors Medical Lab Technicians (MLTs) , new associates and students.

What You Bring

As a Medical Lab Technician, you’ll bring proper identification of known hazardous material in the workplace.  You’ll have knowledge of personal protection measures and the ability to avoid accidents.  You’ll have knowledge of hazardous waste characteristics, hazardous waste volume generation limits, accumulation limits, spill control measures, record keeping, proper handling and container management, labeling, container and storage inspection.

Required Qualifications

  • Medical Tech
  • Medical Technologist (ASCP) preferred
  • LIC Medical Lab Scientist ASCP, or AMT preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology, medical laboratory scientist, human sciences

Working Conditions:

  • Possible exposure to infection from disease-bearing specimens; regularly exposed to the risk of blood-borne diseases; must comply with applicable safety procedures.
