Purpose / Summary of Position:

HPI is seeking a Senior Property Accountant. The Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for key financial information by preparing multiple sets of financial statements and reconciling accounts. This position is an essential role at HPI and will assist the company’s accounting department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide key financial information by preparing multiple sets of financial statements and reports monthly to clients; balancing cash accounts, reconciling and rolling forward balance sheet accounts, ensuring proper coding of income and expense items.
  • Ensure proper business and accounting controls are in place and being followed. Provide additional support to the accounting team and to clients.
  • Work on more advanced projects based on education and experience to help support the Controller and global team, including acquisition and set up of new business and dispositions, distribution schedules, capital schedules, tax support to CPA’s etc.
  • Work with HPI Property Management Division Team
  • Property Management Accounting, including monthly je’s, financial statements, schedules, and other various reports
  • Balance Cash Accounts and prepare balance sheet reconciliations
  • Support cash projections, distributions, etc.
  • Prepare monthly loan draws when required
  • Set up newly acquired properties, support sale processes
  • Initiate correspondence with the bank as necessary, ensure bills and loans paid on time
  • Ensure tax entries booked, work with Director of Tax
  • Special projects requested by Controller and COO
  • Review other team members’ work
  • Other projects requested by management and customer
Requirements:

General Duties and Requirements:

  • 3-10 years accounting work experience, real estate accounting experience highly preferred
  • BBA Accounting or higher preferred / CPA License Preferred
  • GAAP accounting and other typical accounting methods, and Internal Controls/Audit
  • Excellent Customer Service Internally and Externally
  • Accuracy and Ability to meet deadlines are critical
  • Accounting/Property Management Software (Yardi, MRI, Skyline), Excel, Word
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Ability to function in a leadership role on projects and particular portfolio
  • Ability to do multi-tasking
  • Analytical
