Job description

Overview:
Job Title: UI/UX Designer (Front-end) (688583)
Location: Atlanta, GA Hybrid
Duration: Long Term Contract
The Georgia Dept. of Corrections (GDC) is seeking a front-end web designer to design & develop, and oversee both intranet websites and the public websites for the GDC. The preferred candidate must have strong knowledge and experience of front-end web design and development with html, JavaScript, CSS, Bootstrap, Drupal content management system, and some JSP/PHP. This is an in person position to work primarily at our downtown location, 7 MLK Jr Drive, Atlanta, Georgia 30334. There will be some telework options.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Design and develop user-friendly websites across multiple platforms.
- Must understand UI/UX integration with back-end services based on JSP/PHP and application architecture.
Environment:
Drupal, Magento, Bootstrap, JS, CSS, HTML, Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Sign, Vimeo
Required skills and experience:
• Drupal versions 7/8/9.
• Proficient with CSS, responsive design and front-end web development.
• Hand coding html as well as working with PHP/JSP applications.
• Develop, design, and configure pages and modules in Drupal.
• Develop, design, and configure web pages in Magento.
• Configure and develop pdf forms for Adobe Sign including validations
• Experience with full web design cycle including gathering requirements, project documentation, wire
frames, graphics, coding, and implementation for large-scale public and intranet websites.
• Design graphics in Photoshop and Illustrator for Public Relations in promoting events.
• Create and/or edit videos.
• Provide excellent customer service and customer-facing skills.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively to non-technical users.
• Collect and interpret business and design requirements from internal and external sources.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high-level view with planning and strategy for future
innovation.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as under direct supervision. Must take the
initiative to explore and stay current on new technologies and trends.
Desired skills:
• Experience in using Content Management Systems like Magento and WordPress is a plus.
• Flexible and experienced in SDLC, Agile, and blended development methodologies.
• Ability to collect and interpret analytics (Google Analytics, SiteImprove and Omniture Site Catalyst) and
user data (surveys).
• Use of open APIs, such as Google Maps, Custom Search Engine, Translate, etc.
• Social media integration techniques.
• Video file conversion and optimization.
• Ability to author and recommend standards for various interfaces, frameworks, and platforms.
Requirements:
4 Year degree in CIS related discipline or recent equivalent experience.
5 years' experience in related field.
Candidate will be expected to provide examples of websites/designs you have worked on.
