Summary:

We are looking for aSenior ShopifyEngineerwith deep experience inShopify Liquid themingandcustom Shopify app development using React. This role is ideal for someone who understands Shopify end-to-end from storefront performance and UX to backend APIs and embedded apps.

You will play a key role in building, customizing, and scaling Shopify solutions that support business growth, improve customer experience, and integrate with internal systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, andmaintaincustom Shopify themesusingLiquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Build andmaintaincustom Shopify apps, includingembedded apps using Reactand Shopify App Bridge
  • Work withShopify Admin API, Storefront API, and Webhooks
  • Develop scalable front-end components and application logic usingReact
  • Working experiencewithAlpine.jsfor building reactive UI components
  • Integrate Shopify with third-party systems (ERP, CRM, marketing tools, fulfillment, analytics, etc.)
  • Optimizestorefront performance, accessibility, and SEO
  • Collaborate with designers, product managers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Troubleshoot complex Shopify issues across themes, apps, and integrations
  • Follow best practices for security, performance, and maintainability
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior developers and contribute to technical decision-making and architecture. (Mentorship is technical, not managerial.)

RequiredQualifications

  • 5+ years of professional web development experience
  • 3+ years ofhands-on Shopify development experience
  • Strongexpertisein Shopify Liquid and theme customization.
  • Proven experience building custom Shopify apps.
  • Strongproficiencyin React (hooks,componentarchitecture, state management).
  • Experience with Shopify App Bridge and OAuth authentication.
  • Solid understanding of Shopify APIs (Admin, Storefront, Webhooks).
  • Proficiencywith modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Experience with version control systems (Git).

PreferredQualifications

  • Experience with Alpine.js for building reactive UI components.
  • Shopify Plus experience.
  • Experience with Checkout Extensibility and Checkout UI extensions.
  • Experience with theme performance tooling (Lighthouse, Core Web Vitals).
  • Experience with Node.js, serverless platforms (Cloudflare/AWS), andGraphQLtooling.
  • Experience with A/B testing and feature flagging.
  • Experience with payments, fraud, tax/duties, subscriptions, and ERP/PIM integrations.
  • Experience building custom or private Shopify apps with OAuth and secure key management.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
  • A combination of education and experience may meet the requirements.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This job does not have supervisory responsibilities. Mentorship of junior developers is technical in nature and does not include direct reports.

Work Environment:

This joboperatesin a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as a laptop, desktop, smartphone, and photocopiers. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Essential oils are worn and/or diffused in the work environment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This position requires the incumbent to be physically present at the assigned worksite. The regular schedule is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with anhourlunch, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may berequiredas job duties demand. Employees are also expected to work at least one non-convention farm event a year and to work at the annual company convention.

Exact hour requirements can bereasonably modifiedas necessary for the business needs by theemployeesmanager.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities of this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employeeis required totype, file, and occasionally lift office supplies up to 20 pounds. The employee must be physically able to tolerate the scent of essential oils worn or diffused.
