Job description

Charlotte Latin School is searching for a temporary employee in our Hawk Shop to cover a maternity leave. This position will support the Campus Store (Hawk Shop) in the daily business operations of the Hawk Shop, including coordinating volunteers, interacting with customers, managing inventory levels, working with the ECommerce system, as well as handling any other tasks as they arise. This is a temporary position that begins September 1st, 2026.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform cash register and sales duties by assisting customers with purchases and merchandise selection.
  • Manage returns, refunds and exchanges.
  • Perform inventory management across technical platforms.
  • Perform store opening and closing duties based on published store hours.
  • Maintain a fully stocked floor, based on merchandise available, as well as the store appearance and cleanliness.
  • Assist in merchandising of inventory, including receiving and tagging new inventory and collaborating with the Store Manager on store displays.
  • Interact with vendors as necessary.
  • Assist with Hawk Shop online orders, including pulling sold merchandise off the store in a timely manner, preparing orders, packing, posting, deliveries to various divisions, as well as coordinating curbside pick up.
  • Assist with maintaining the E Commerce/ Shopify platform.
  • Assist in maintaining organized stockrooms.
  • Assist in physical inventory.
  • Assist with responding to Hawk Shop Emails.
  • Assist with Volunteer coordination.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Hawk Shop Manager

Hours and Availability
  • Available M-F during store operation hours of 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.

Education and Experience
  • Minimum High School degree; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Previous Retail or Merchandising experience preferred.
  • ECommerce/ Shopify experience preferred.

Skills
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to interact with customers, internal departments and vendors.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to take direction and deliver a product or task to completion.
  • Ability to work with technology including Apple products.
  • Exude team player mentality.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Basic mathematics and finance knowledge.

Working Conditions and Environment
  • Intermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds.
  • Continuously see, sit, balance, grasp, and have repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, and fingers; and fine finger dexterity.
  • Frequently talk and hear.
  • Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders.
  • Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate heat and cold indoor temperatures.
  • Long or odd hours, as needed.
