Job description

At Joby, we've been working to make that dream a reality since 2009 and we're now in the final stages of certifying our aircraft with the FAA. With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.


Joby Aviation is seeking a highly organized, passionate individual to coordinate and track machine shop team activities in support of the development, certification, and production of eVTOL aircraft. As the coordinator, this person will have responsibility for scheduling, tracking, and planning for all machine shop jobs, and assist with fabrication and waterjet jobs. Will also be responsible for equipment maintenance schedule and repair, as well as material and tool inventory, working under the direction of the machine shop lead.


  • Assists scheduling and priorities for upcoming CNC machining jobs, equipment maintenance, and repair
  • Assist Fabrication and Water Jet teams with job scheduling, ordering, equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Keeps internal customers (engineers) and team informed about the status of their requests with regular updates through verbal communication, Jira ticketing system and Slack channels
  • Coordinates with engineers, designers and program management to ensure priorities of parts are being adhered to
  • Assists with ordering of raw materials
  • Maintains and manages receiving of raw materials, tools, equipment, services and other team requests
  • Is an approved purchaser using Dynamics 365 to generate Purchase Requests and Purchase Orders.
  • Assist in tracking and managing material and tool inventory as well as other general shop supplies
  • Manages organization of stock storage areas
  • Acts as a liaison with suppliers and outsource vendors for outside processes
  • Maintain organization and shop cleanliness based on 5S standards
  • Adhere to all shop safety standards and act as liaison between EHS standards and Team
  • Act as backup driver for local deliveries and pick-up of hot parts
  • Use Fusion 360 to view 3D models to create B.O.M. lists and measure/inspect 3D models in Fusion360
  • Operating a Forklift
  • Assist with creating or updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and training modules for the team
  • Ability to adhere to traceability protocols and work instructions for Flight Articles

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a related industry
  • 5+yrs experience with inventory management; retail, warehouse, and/or manufacturing
  • Highly organized in physical space raw materials and tooling inventory
  • Highly organized in digital workspace and documentation processes
  • Strong computer skills, familiar with working in spreadsheets
  • Familiar with purchasing and receiving processes and documentation
  • Familiar with Return Authorizations with vendors
  • Capable of positively interacting in a highly dynamic team environment
  • Able to communicate and listen well both verbally and through Slack, Jira and email
  • Strong customer relations, communication, and negotiating skills between suppliers, engineers, shop floor team and planning teams
  • Ability to schedule, manage, and lead internal video calls amongst multiple teams
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to transport materials between facilities
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs aided or unaided throughout the day

  • Experience supporting R&D, Aerospace, Aviation, or Advanced Manufacturing work environments

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $83,200 - $145,100/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
