Job description

GIFT SHOP CLERK
Exempt/Non-Exempt Status: This position shall be non-exempt from overtime as defined under the Department of Labor’s Fair Labor Standards Act.
Hours: Part Time ( 10-15 per week, including 1-2 Saturdays per month)
Basic Function: Assist customers in merchandise selection in a friendly, professional way and answer any questions that they might have.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Develops and maintains a thorough knowledge of all products in the store.
  2. Operate cash register/computer to itemize and total customer’s purchases.
  3. Maintains store and fixture cleanliness.
  4. Assists with inventory pricing, stocking and merchandise display.
  5. Interacts in a courteous and professional manner with all customers and other employees.
  6. Takes responsibility for the shipping and/or mailing of merchandise in a timely manner.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Requirements: Some experience with a point of sale program. Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. Job may require limited training or knowledge in record keeping, and ability to operate a cash register.
Education and Experience: A high school diploma or GED, and up to three month’s comparable experience.
Physical Demands: Light physical effort required involving stooping and bending; individual has limited discretion about walking, standing, etc, occasional lifting of lightweight objects (up to 25 pounds).
