Job description

About the Role

We are a busy, patient-centered podiatry practice seeking an experienced, highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment alongside physicians, specialists, and staff.

This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone confident, adaptable, and comfortable handling a wide range of clinical and administrative responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Triage patients and accurately report findings to the physician

  • Create and document chief complaints and comprehensive charting

  • Navigate and document efficiently in multiple EMR systems, including:

    • eClinicalWorks

    • ModMed

    • NextGen

    • Athena (or comparable systems)

  • Assist the physician during in-office procedures

  • Take and position patients for X-rays (experience required)

  • Perform blood draws and basic lab procedures

  • Assist with wound care, including dressing changes and documentation

  • Work with DME (fitting, patient education, documentation, coordination)

  • Assist with and operate lasers and shockwave therapy equipment (training provided if needed)

  • Coordinate care with other specialists and primary care physicians

  • Schedule surgeries and manage pre-op/post-op documentation

  • Schedule patients, manage clinic flow, and ensure efficient room turnover

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant clinical environment

Required Qualifications

  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (preferred)

  • Strong EMR experience across multiple platforms

  • Proven experience in triage and clinical decision-making

  • Experience assisting in procedures and handling specialty equipment

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

  • Professional demeanor with patients and staff

  • Fluent in Spanish

Preferred Experience

  • Podiatry, orthopedics, wound care, or surgical practice experience

  • Experience with DME billing and coordination

  • Familiarity with insurance authorizations and referrals
