Job description

Position Overview:
Seeking an experienced Shipping Coordinator to manage daily shipping operations, coordinate deliveries, and ensure materials are loaded and delivered on schedule. This role requires strong organization, communication skills, and the ability to coordinate with production teams, drivers, vendors, and project managers in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily shipping schedules to ensure deliveries are loaded properly and completed on time.
  • Prepare accurate Bills of Lading for shipments to vendors and jobsites.
  • Coordinate with purchasing and production teams to meet project deadlines.
  • Plan shipping sequences and communicate special delivery requirements.
  • Coordinate internal and outside trucking resources while following DOT requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of trucking regulations and restrictions throughout New England and New York.
  • Track company-owned and leased trailers and ensure inspections are current.
  • Secure permits for oversized loads when needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ability to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand carts.
  • Ability to read and understand shop drawings, erection drawings, and Bills of Material.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to make quick decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a production-focused environment.
  • Comfortable using computers and administrative/production software.
  • Quality and safety focused.
  • 5+ years of shipping/logistics coordination experience preferred.
  • Steel fabrication experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent trade school education.

Work Environment:

  • Combination of office and production floor environment.
  • Must be comfortable spending time on the shop floor and working around fabrication operations.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform physical tasks as needed.
