Job description

DEPARTMENT: Molding

REPORTS TO: Molding Supervisor

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Packer Shipper plays a critical role in ensuring that products are accurately packed and labeled, This position requires meticulous attention to detail to maintain product. The Packer Shipper contributes to customer satisfaction by ensuring orders are fulfilled.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work Safely at all times including proper LOTO of machines and use of proper PPE
  • Promote 5S maintenance & improvements
  • Be a positive role model to the team
  • Be RESULTS oriented using visual KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators)
  • Be multi-skilled to support team members as needed
  • Seek out assistance from department supervisor/manager/team leaders as required
  • Support and participate in continuous improvement efforts
  • Be a good listener and understand issues before coming up with solutions (root cause analysis)
  • Accurately pack products according to company standards and customer specifications to prevent damage during shipping.
  • Inspect products and packaging materials for quality and report any discrepancies or damages.
  • Maintain organized work areas and ensure compliance with safety and operational procedures.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma of GED preferred
  • Able to work independently as well as with co-workers
  • Ability to assume a quick pace
  • Must have some computer skills
  • Previous experience in a warehouse, packing, or shipping role is preferred but not required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safety Responsibilities:
  • Supports a culture where employees address unsafe conditions and behaviors, make suggestions for improvements, and actively participates in implementing solutions
  • Identifies safety gaps and self-initiates corrective actions
  • Strictly adheres to plant safety, housekeeping, and 5S efforts
  • Understands, identifies, and corrects safety hazards
  • Drives a culture which empowers employees to understand and embrace what they own
  • Food Safety Responsibilities:
  • Monitors and verifies activities to ensure that finished goods and raw materials are coming in and out of the facility meet consumer safety and quality standards.
  • Complies with all company food safety and quality assurance procedures
  • Reports any product or process failures that could impact food safety of manufactured products to the location’s Food Safety Team Leader and submits an appropriate incident report

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Required to walk, sit and/or stand for up to 11.75 hours per day.
  • May be required to reach with hands and arms.
  • As needed, stoop, squat, twist, push and pull, maintain balance, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distances, and climb stairs and lift to 40 lbs
