PROCESSING ATTENDANT I

Starting pay: $19/ hour

What better way to see how eggs are packed and shipped than to be part of that process! Our eggs are packed and shipped daily to stores throughout New York State and beyond. The Egg Packer is an important part of this process which helps get these fresh, delicious, quality eggs packaged and sent to their destination and to our customers!


JOB RESPONSIBILTIES

Work for which this position is accountable:

It is the responsibility of the Egg Packing Machine Operator to:

Preparation and Setup:

  • Organize materials at the start of the day, including pallets, flats and dividers
  • Set up and prepare the egg packing machine for operation
  • Prepare date cards for labeling packed eggs

Operation and monitoring:

  • Run and operate the packing machine, including any robotic components
  • Load trays and monitor conveyor belts to ensure smooth operation
  • Use the REF system on a computer to monitor egg flow and track production
  • Manually inspect and remove any broken or damaged eggs before they enter the packing machine

Maintenance and Safety:

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the shift
  • Follow all biosecurity and coworker safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment
  • Operate a pallet jack safely to move materials as needed

Communication and Support:

  • Assist other team members with supplying materials in zone 3 when required
  • Communicate any machinery issues or malfunctions to the maintenance manager promptly
  • Maintain radio communication with barn staff to coordinate egg supply and other operational needs



REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to focus, stay alert with very good observation skills.
  • Able to keep up in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective working well in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to maintain proper pace while handling a fragile product with little or no breakage.
  • Ability to be flexible with working schedule - employees may need to work longer or shorter hours to meet operational needs, as determined by leadership.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1+ years of work experience, in food processing plant preferred
