Job Description
The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily shipping operations to ensure customer orders are shipped accurately, on time, and in alignment with business priorities. This role supervises hourly shipping employees, coordinates directly with carriers and brokers, manages shipping-related materials and inventory, and continuously improves shipping processes to support operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. The salary rate for this role is currently $62,100-$75,500
Key Responsibilities
Daily Operations & Issue Resolution
  • Assist in resolving day-to-day operational issues within the shipping function, including order discrepancies, labor constraints, and carrier delays.
  • Ensure shipping activities align with customer shipment deadlines and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Prioritize resources appropriately to meet daily and expedited shipment requirements.

Supervision & Team Leadership
  • Supervise, train, and support hourly employees assigned to shipping operations.
  • Ensure workloads are distributed correctly through effective wave planning and labor coordination.
  • Monitor employee performance, ensure adherence to safety and quality standards, and address performance or attendance concerns as needed.

Carrier & Customer Communication
  • Communicate directly with carriers, brokers, and transportation partners to coordinate pickups, deliveries, and problem resolution.
  • Serve as a shipping point of contact for internal departments and external customers regarding order status and shipment issues.
  • Manage and execute site expedited orders to meet urgent customer needs.

Inventory & Materials Management
  • Manage inventory levels of shipping-related materials, including pallets, containers, racks, protective wrap, dunnage, and other supplies.
  • Ensure shipping materials are available, properly stored, and accurately tracked within the system.

Systems & Documentation
  • Complete system transactions related to shipping activities, including material movements, goods issues, and shipping documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of completed orders and shipping transactions.

Organization & Storage
  • Maintain organization of completed orders and shipping staging areas to ensure efficient flow and safe operations.
  • Organize and maintain long-term finished goods storage racks to ensure inventory accuracy and accessibility.

Continuous Improvement
  • Continually identify opportunities for improvement and implement changes to enhance shipping efficiency, accuracy, safety, and cost control.
  • Support process improvements related to wave planning, labor utilization, shipment consolidation, and material handling.

Qualifications
  • Bachler's from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with 5 years of experience in supervising warehouse/shipping.
  • Must have 3-5 years management experience
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) is preferred.
  • Experience in distribution center or warehouse shipping operations
  • Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with WMS/ERP and Oracle systems
  • Ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
