Job description

Shipping Department Lead

Lead and coordinate activities of the shipping dock and related functions of the shipping department. Work alongside shipping associates to provide daily direction and communication to execute daily plans in accordance with Vera Bradley's objectives and standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for directing shipping dock associates to various positions based on the daily work load
  • Assist in overseeing work flow and elevate any associate or work related issues to management team as appropriate
  • Utilize customer's vendor portals to execute shipping schedule
  • Study shipping schedules, order schedules and other records to determine shipping priorities and work assignments in order to meet shipping requirements.
  • Create and ensure accurate completion of all required paperwork, records, documents, etc. (i.e. Bill of Ladings, export documents)
  • Troubleshoot problem containers and resolve any issues related to delivery
  • Close and confirm shipping loads to ensure revenue compliance with Accounting & Finance guidelines
  • Train new personnel on dock and procedures
  • Sort, organize and stage shipments on dock
  • Contact carriers and route shipments; communicate disposition of shipments to necessary parties
  • Update and provide tracking information to Customer Service and other necessary parties.
  • Have knowledge of the general standards for all Key Accounts customers to ensure our shipments are in compliance with their standards
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects
  • Help promote a safe work environment
  • Promote high standards and help motivate the team to meet daily shipping dock goals
  • Act as a Brand Ambassador, consistently modeling and upholding the Vera Bradley Core Values
Education and/or Experience
  • High School graduate
  • 3 years warehouse/dock experience strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • First Responder training preferred
  • Experience with Warehouse Management System (WMS) required
  • Forklift experience required

  • Ability to operate office equipment, including computers, copiers, fax machines and phones and warehouse equipment including forklift

Base Pay Range: $21.11 to $29.04
