Job description

The Stine family, including 3 generations of Stine family members, together with hundreds of associates, work side by side together toward providing the nation's best home improvement shopping experience and premier preferred workplace of its kind. Our retail and contractor supply locations provide thousands of quality products for new construction, remodeling, and industrial projects. Stine helps customers associates, and families build their dreams!
Job Summary:
The Department Manager is in a position of management with supervision over assigned department(s) and associates in said area. More detailed information and knowledge about products is required. Merchandising, pricing, inventory control and housekeeping within the department(s) are performed daily. The ability to interact with Assistant Store Manager, Store Manager, Corporate personnel and vendors is a must. Must be able to analyze departmental financial and inventory levels as well as maintain customer service level.
Qualifications:
  1. Education: Basic education which includes ability to competently read and write.
  2. Training and Experience: Experience in selling/serving customers and building materials knowledge, limited typing and key punch skills, exceptional customer service and communication skills required. Supervisory experience preferred.
  3. Job Knowledge: Should have general knowledge of the building and home improvement industry and detailed knowledge of assigned department.
  4. Physical Demands: Work requires some physical effort; involves standing, walking and medium lifting. Works in and out of air-conditioned environments as well as non-A/C controlled environments. (Important: This job is classified in the physical demands section of the job description [Form IV-31] as constant medium work and occasional heavy work.)
