SUMMARY OF POSITION: 

The Shipping/Receiving Supervisor provides excellent service to our customers by accurately shipping required products on time and supports production activities through proper inspection and receiving activities.

JOB DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Develop processes and procedures for all warehouse functions and implement upon completion.
  2. Schedule and coordinate daily workflow in order to ship and receive products on time.
  3. Monitor the pace and flow of product from receiving through shipping.
  4. Responsible for warehouse productivity requirements to meet customer schedules and maximize operational efficiency.
  5. Report any issues to Materials Manager in a timely fashion.
  6. Coach and lead the warehouse team to first and foremost work safely, increase productivity, and reduce waste.
  7. Maintain housekeeping and support 5S initiatives for the warehouse and surrounding area.
  8. Review daily workloads, coordinate equal distribution of assignments, and redistribute duties as needed.
  9. Plan layout of warehouse and other storage areas considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors of items stored to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  10. Advise employees on care and preservation of items received, stored, and shipped and on methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining, and shipping stock.
  11. Review records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures and to determine adequacy of inventory information.
  12. Schedule work for special and periodic physical inventories.
  13. Track history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommend remedial actions to resolve discrepancies.
  14. Responsible for shipping, receiving, firming work orders, and reconciliation of outsource processes.
  15. Responsible for off-site warehouse activities.
  16. Analyze data as appropriate and available to measure productivity and efficiency. 
  17. Work with the Customer Service and Quality departments to support and solve any customer related issues due to quality and/or shipping issues.
  18. This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):

  • 3 - 5 years of leadership experience in a warehouse/logistics environment
  • Excellent communications skills including problem solving and team motivation.
  • Forklift experience.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently as a team player in a diverse work group or independently.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems required.
  • Excellent understanding of manufacturing processes with an eye for identifying and eliminating waste.
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about continuous improvement.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):

  • IQMS knowledge a plus
  • Strong PC literacy (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with integrated databases.
  • Experience in Visual Flow/Kanban environment and cellular manufacturing, JIT, and MRP systems.
  • Understanding of and practical experience in Lean Manufacturing.
