Sheeter Operator - Chattanooga
Shift: Train on 1st shift, move to 2nd or 3rd shift
The Maxson Sheeter Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient setup, operation, and monitoring of a Maxson sheeting machine to convert rolls of paper into accurately cut sheets that meet production specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate Maxson sheeter equipment according to job orders and production schedules
  • Load rolls onto the sheeter using hoists, cranes, or roll-handling equipment
  • Adjust machine settings including cut length, trim, stacking, and line speed
  • Monitor sheet quality, accuracy, and stack integrity during operation
  • Perform quality checks to ensure sheets meet size, count, and defect requirements
  • Troubleshoot and correct minor mechanical or operational issues
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and lubrication as required
  • Remove and record scrap or waste material
  • Maintain clean and organized work area following 5S standards
  • Follow lockout/tagout, machine guarding, and all plant safety procedures
  • Accurately complete production, downtime, and quality documentation
  • Communicate issues or changes to supervisors, maintenance, and downstream processes
  • Assist with training of helper operators or new team members as needed

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (with assistance for heavier loads)
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and use of hand controls
  • Ability to work in an industrial environment with noise and moving machinery

What you need to succeed:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience operating industrial machinery (sheeting, converting, or printing equipment preferred)
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to make precise adjustments
  • Ability to read job tickets, production schedules, and measuring instruments
  • Basic math skills (fractions, measurements, counts)
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
