Job description

Tuff Shed is looking for a Corporate Communications Specialist to work as part of our talented Marketing Department team. This position is located in the south metro Denver area (I-25 & Colorado Blvd).
This is a hybrid option role: 2 days remote / 3 days in office
The Corporate Communications Specialist develops effective corporate communication strategies, manages internal and external communications (memos, newsletters, emails, media pitching, etc.), owns the content for company's intranet site, and drafts content (e.g. press releases) for mass media or company website. This role provides a positive public image and controls the dissemination of information on our company's behalf.
The essential functions for this position include but are not strictly limited to:
  • Working collaboratively with the Marketing team to assist in the creation and implementation of communications plans and initiatives while ensuring brand integrity
  • Leading the research, planning, and execution of specific communications initiatives
  • Writing, editing and distributing/posting communications, including company intranet posts, newsletters, memos, announcements, press releases, website content, speaking notes, etc., for a variety of internal and external audiences and mediums
  • Supporting communications for company departments and strategic initiatives.
  • Owning the content of company intranet site, Shed Online - and specifically driving the communication initiative with the company's construction team, via developing communications tools designed specifically for this audience
  • Communicating information regarding the company's Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) to employees, creating content which engages, educates and excites the employee population
  • Building relationships with all levels of internal clients. Work directly with these key internal clients to ensure message consistency, shape key business decisions and outcomes, and support their initiatives with various communication tactics
  • Creates and maintains biographical information on company leaders
  • Proactively interacting with media outlets, pitching company-related stories for earned (non-paid) editorial placements
  • Collaborating with Marketing content team to review and categorize photography from the field of Tuff Shed products and people for use in communications
  • Performing all other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Tuff Shed management
  • May be required to work overtime (including some weekend work) in order to fulfil the requirements of the role; in addition, s/he must be present in the Store, as scheduled, and work all required hours

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or related field, preferred

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • 3+ years of experience in a corporate or agency setting.
  • Expert in AP writing style and superb verbal, writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing measurable strategic communications programs.
  • Experience creating engaging intranet content. SharePoint intranet publishing a plus.
  • Ability to develop lists of target media outlets and editorial contacts for generating earned media placements.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at one time, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative and team-focused with the ability to develop and sustain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communicator and creative thinker, with an ability to use both data and intuition to inform decisions.
  • Willingness to travel and work with teams across the U.S. and Canada. Travel will account for approximately 10% of the position.
  • Hands-on computer skills in Microsoft Office and Internet applications required; experience in utilizing Customer Relations Management (CRM) software - including JDE, Salesforce.com, or similar systems is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with posting corporate messages on social media networking sites (i.e. Linked In, Glassdoor, etc.)
  • Ability to solve problems using sound logic and good business judgment
  • Ability to read, write and understand instructions given orally, in writing and/or in diagram form
  • Ability to prepare written correspondence and reports that create a professional image for Tuff Shed
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels, including customers, business partners, suppliers, co-workers, managers, and the general public

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS:
  • Must have valid driver's license and acceptable MVR

MINIMUM QUALIFYING SKILLS:
