Job description

All Saints Parish has an immediate need for a full-time sexton for St. John the Baptist Church, in Brunswick, Maine. This is a 40 hours per week, hourly position with benefits.
As the sexton, your responsibilities would include thorough cleaning of the church, stocking supplies as needed, landscaping and lawn care, snow removal in the winter, assisting with minor maintenance as needed, identifying major maintenance repairs and issues, supporting other maintenance staff in the parish as needed. The sexton will also be the point person for any contractors that need to service the buildings on the St. John's Campus, including St. John's Catholic School, St. John's Community Center, and St. John's Parish Center. The candidate is also responsible for monthly and quarterly checks for safety equipment such as the elevator, AED, emergency lights, fire extinguishers, etc.
Applicants must have a friendly disposition and willingness to learn and to work with other parish staff and volunteers. Facility maintenance or Janitorial experience are highly recommended. Training and assistance will be provided where needed. Basic computer skills for emailing and communications are required.
This position requires strict adherence to confidentiality protocols and sensitivity to the needs of the parishioners. Due to the physical requirements of this position, a fit-for-duty physical is required. This is paid for by the parish.
