Job description

Provide administrative, organizational and operational support to the pastor, ministry leaders, and congregation to enhance the effectiveness of St. Mark’s pastoral ministry, congregational life, and outreach efforts. The position is vital to the church’s mission and operational efficiency. The Administrative Associate is directly accountable to the Pastor as Head of Staff.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the Pastor
  • Provide compassionate first contact for individuals seeking pastoral support
  • Administrate and maintain church databases, records, and correspondence
  • Coordinate with staff and committees to create and maintain an annual church calendar
  • Responsible for office supplies and office equipment, including WiFi
  • Manage facility reservations, schedule building locking and unlocking access
  • Provide work direction to the church Sexton, coordinate routine maintenance contractors 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills, ability to collaborate and prioritize competing requests
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion
  • Proficiency in office software (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Canva, or similar)
  • Ability to interact graciously with people in times of joy, crisis, and grief
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Previous administrative experience, especially in a church or nonprofit setting
  • Experience working with individuals and teams
  • Experience with church management software a plus
