Job description

Job Summary

The Church Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the church building, grounds, and equipment in a safe, clean, and functional condition. This role supports the church's mission by ensuring all facilities are well cared for and ready for worship services, events, and daily operations.

Job Responsibilities

General Maintenance

  • Perform routine inspections of church facilities and equipment
  • Complete basic repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC support as needed)
  • Replace light bulbs, fix minor leaks, and address general wear and tear
  • Maintain heating and cooling systems at proper settings and report issues

Building Upkeep

  • Ensure all worship areas, classrooms, offices, and restrooms are clean and functional
  • Coordinate or assist with deep cleaning schedules and seasonal maintenance
  • Set up and tear down rooms for church services, meetings, and events

Grounds Maintenance

  • Care for church landscaping, including mowing, trimming, and seasonal cleanup
  • Remove snow/ice and ensure safe walkways and parking areas
  • Maintain outdoor lighting and exterior building appearance
Job Requirements
  • Prior experience in building or facility maintenance preferred
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry repairs
  • Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment safely
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Physical ability to lift, bend, and perform manual labor tasks
