St Anselm Church
Maintenance Worker

Scope of Job:

This position is for an enthusiastic, responsible and dedicated worker that will ensure the
facilities, equipment and parish campus are safe, clean and functional. Must be able to work
independently or with maintenance coworker.

Responsibilities:

Inspections: Conduct regular walkthroughs of buildings and equipment to identify potential
issues or safety hazards.

Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine tasks like replacing filters, cleaning A/C systems
to prevent breakdowns, clean gutters and roof drains.

General Repairs: Handle minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC fixes (e.g., changing
bulbs and ballasts, repairing inoperable plumbing fixtures and repairing locks and pew kneelers).

Custodial: Clean, vacuum, mop and maintain all buildings on campus (excluding Rectory)

Setups: Setup for different ministries and events in all campus buildings (tables, chairs,
weddings, funerals, etc.)

Availability: Work weekday shifts, every other weekend evenings (two (2) hours each evening)
and all special events or emergencies as directed by the Pastor

Applicant Must Provide: Cellphone and basic tools to perform repairs; screwdrivers, wrenches,
drill and bits etc.

Qualifications and Skills

Education: High school diploma or equivalent is standard; technical certificates (HVAC,
plumbing, electrical) are desired but not required.

Experience: Number of years of past work in residential or commercial fields.

Hard Skills: Proficiency with hand and power tools, program timers, ability to read
blueprints/manuals, and basic knowledge of building systems.

Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, communication, and time-management abilities.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

Manual Labor: Ability to bend, pull, push, lift and move heavy objects (often 50+ lbs),
repetitive work (table and chair setups), climb ladders, walking and standing for long periods.
Operate various mechanical custodial machines.

Conditions: Ability to work in various weather conditions, heights, and occasionally late
nights.

Hours and Benefits

Schedule: Position is Monday thru Friday 9 am to 4:30 pm with every other weekend Saturday 5
pm to 7pm and Sunday 6 pm to 8 pm. (Other scheduled events can alter weekday and weekend times).
Overtime is available with busier times throughout the year.
