Job description

PLUMBER
Columbus, MS

This is a hybrid service-and-install role for a plumber who wants steady call volume, real commission, and a company that invests in tools and training rather than nickel-and-diming you for them. If you're strong on drain clearing and want to grow with a team that's actively rebuilding its bench, this is worth a look.

THE BASICS
Location: Columbus, MS
Pay: $25–$30/hr base + commission (3% on service tickets; 4–6% tiered on system installs; first month's payment on service plans)
Schedule: 7:15 AM arrival, work starts 7:30 AM. Typical end time 4:00–5:00 PM — usually 4:00 PM off-season, can run 5:00–6:00 PM during peak. Half-day Sundays available for those who want to attend church, starting around 12:00 PM.
On-Call: Rotating on-call schedule; last call taken by 8:00 PM. Weekend work limited to emergencies or service-plan customers. $200 stipend + time-and-a-half for hours beyond 8/day.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Handle 3–4 service calls per day, typically running a full 4
  • Perform both service and install work — water heaters, sewer lines, gas piping
  • Diagnose and clear drain lines as a core part of the job
  • Rotate into the on-call schedule as part of a 6-person team
  • Keep clean, accurate records in the company's field service software

WHY PLUMBERS LIKE WORKING HERE

  • Company vehicle and major tools provided; tool financing available for personal hand tools
  • Real commission: 3% on service, 4–6% tiered on installs, plus first month's payment on service plans
  • $200 on-call stipend + time-and-a-half after 8 hours
  • $250/month health insurance stipend toward a group BCBS plan
  • $50/month Aflac contribution, plus 100% company-paid life and disability insurance
  • 401k with 3% match after vesting
  • PTO: 1 week year one, 2 weeks year two and beyond, plus 2 weeks paid company holidays
  • Up to 2 weeks/year of paid training toward certifications
  • $200 annual boot allowance, $20/month cell phone reimbursement, $200 birthday bonus
  • Christmas bonus (2% of gross salary — typically $1k–$2.5k)
  • Annual company trip
  • Half-day Sunday option for church or personal time, plus weekend work limited to true emergencies

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required:

  • 5–10 years of service plumbing experience
  • Strong drain-clearing proficiency

Nice to Have (not required):

  • Tankless water heater experience
