Dell Seton Medical Center and Dell Medical School at The University of Texas are seeking an Academic Acute Care Surgeon to join our nationally recognized trauma program. This faculty position is ideal for surgeons who thrive in a high-acuity environment and enjoy practicing the full breadth of Acute Care Surgery while teaching the next generation of physicians.

Clinical Practice

Faculty provide comprehensive Acute Care Surgery including trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care.


Academic Responsibilities

Faculty members actively participate in:

  • Teaching General Surgery residents
  • Educating medical students
  • Mentoring PA and NP students
  • Research and publications
  • National presentations
  • Quality improvement
  • Academic leadership opportunities

This is an outstanding opportunity for surgeons who are passionate about research, education, and advancing the field of Acute Care Surgery.


Call Responsibilities

Faculty rotate through:

  • Acute Care Surgery call (trauma, emergency general surgery, and initial resuscitation of burn patients)
  • Surgical ICU attending weeks covering patients from all surgical specialties

Qualifications

Required

  • MD or DO
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited General Surgery residency
  • Fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible
  • Eligible for Texas medical licensure

  • Academic experience
  • Interest in research and teaching
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Team-oriented mindset

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Licensed Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Texas Medical Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
