Job description

At Episcopal Community Services (ECS), employees work with participants who may be experiencing homelessness, behavioral health conditions, substance use challenges, and other difficult life circumstances. While this work is meaningful and mission-driven, it can at times be stressful, demanding, or unpredictable. Employees are expected to exercise sound judgment, remain aware of their surroundings, follow established safety, communication, and de-escalation procedures, participate in all required trainings, and promptly report incidents, threats, injuries, or unsafe conditions, in accordance with ECS policies and procedures.
This position is a fully onsite, client-facing role that requires in-person interaction and direct service delivery to participants at ECS program locations. Due to the essential nature of the duties and the need for consistent in-person engagement with clients, remote work or work-from-home arrangements are not available for this position.
Position Summary
The Services Coordinator acts as a resource, ally and advisor to shelter participants, supporting the routine operation by administering resident intake and monitoring of the floors for safety and order.
The Services Coordinator orients participants about the shelter program, engaging them in shelter activities, and supporting development of participant service plans. Each Services Coordinator will also provide information to assist in accessing services through case management, and in maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for all.
Primary Duties
Check the exterior of the building on a regularly assigned schedule to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Conduct wellness checks to maintain security and program compliance.
Maintain shift reports and logs according to procedure.
Perform all duties ensuring standards of care and within the parameters of the program standard operating procedures.
Orient all participants to program rules and responsibilities.
Apply shelter rules and regulations in a fair and equitable manner to all participants.
Maintain required documentation timely, in a complete and legible manner (including attendance, disciplinary actions, eligibility status, bed assignments, late arrivals, etc.).
Report all participant concerns, maintenance issues, and safety concerns to supervisor, immediately.
Respond to all participant requests and questions in a dignified and courteous manner.
Attend and participate in daily shift change meetings.
Ensure documentation is completed and workspace is cleaned and organized before end of shift.
Collect, tag, store, and dispose of client property according to policy and procedure.
Honor and abide by agency rules of confidentiality.
Encourage client participation in all groups and activities.
Refer participants to case management.
Attend staff meetings or training, even when outside of regular work hours.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or a GED.
Experience working with adults who are unhoused, have challenges with mental health, substance abuse or disabilities is a plus.
Services Coordinators must have strong communication skills; a comprehension of ethics in social services; good general counseling, active listening skills as well as proven problem-solving and crisis resolution skills.
Intermediate computer skills including MS Office applications.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Works well independently, as well as part of a team.
Will honor and abide by ECS rules and regulations, including discretion and confidentiality.
High comfort in collaborating with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Other Requirements
Must secure fingerprint image screening and annual TB screening.
Must be able to meet physical requirements of the position, which may include lifting up to 30 lbs.
