Job description

Service Writer

Yellowhouse Machinery is currently accepting applications for Service Writer at our Lubbock, TX location. Our applicants must exhibit strong work ethic and be able to provide supporting references. Must be able to assist the Service Manager in maintaining accurate and on-time billing, reports and records relative to the service department's operation within the dealership.

Reports To: Service Operations Manager

Job Essential Duties:

  • Opens work orders as directed by the Service Manager/Shop Foreman and maintains control until they are closed and invoiced.
  • Promotes and adheres to company policy at all times with emphasis on a team mentality.
  • Administers the warranty claim process to maximize the efficiency and return on warranty claims.
  • Understands warranty regulations and is able to provide consultation to Service Managers, Techs, and Parts Department Personnel on the proper way to proceed with a warranty situation.
  • Processes customer pay invoices, warranty and/or product improvement claims including the computation of charges, submission and follow-up.
  • Communicates to departmental management about warranty status on a regular basis.
  • Fields internal and external customer inquiries to the Service Department.
  • Promotes customer service at all times throughout the organization.
  • Executes other duties as assigned by management

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience in Service Department operations is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of accounting practices
  • Knowledge of office procedures
  • Understands the service software in the dealer business system and Deere Warranty system
  • Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions
  • Attention to detail
  • General understanding of mechanical/technical terms is preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience
  • Pass a background check, drug test and physical
