This is a specially funded position, dependent upon funding for continuance. Job Description / Essential Elements: Print Minimum Qualifications & Abilities: High school diploma or equivalent

AA Degree or 48 Semester Units or meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through an assessment, the knowledge and ability to assist in instruction - (CODESP Exam). Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, staff, and the public. Knowledge of basic instructional methods and techniques.

Ability to interpret and follow rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Leadership qualities desired. Courses or training in child care, child guidance, or child development desired.

Enthusiasm for and commitment to assigned tasks desired. Fluency in Spanish desired. Experience in working with children desired.

Essential Functions: Directs activity leaders at the site. Directs, coordinates, and oversees daily operations at the assigned school site. Coordinates academic, enrichment, and service learning activities with activity leaders and administrator.

Attends staff development/training activities. Records daily attendance. Maintains records and files for the program.

Handles student discipline issues and communicates with administrator on all issues. Attends instructional day staff meetings as appropriate. Interacts with parents, makes phone calls, handles daily sign-outs, registers students, and checks absences.

Provides and participates in staff development activities. Identifies and reports to the administrator problem areas at the site and provides action plan to improve operations and program components to ensure program quality. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.

Assists in developing the weekly lesson plans and overall program activities, including, but not limited to arts and crafts, dramatic play, story time, cooking, music, and fine and gross motor skills. May assist in recruiting and enrolling eligible children and collecting all needed records. Ensures that all staff members are cross trained in order to provide continuance services to students in the event of staff absences or emergencies.
