Positive Progress Counseling Center is seeking a compassionate and experienced Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) to join our dedicated team. This role operates within a fully remote format while also engaging closely with our outpatient office setting. You will utilize a variety of communication tools and virtual platforms to provide care to your clients effectively. • Perform comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly clients to identify their specific emotional and psychological needs.
• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, addressing emotional challenges related to aging, grief, and major life transitions.
• Develop and implement personalized treatment plans that may include evidence-based therapeutic methods to achieve the best outcomes for clients.
• Educate and empower families and staff on best practices to support the emotional well-being of seniors, fostering improved communication and understanding.
• Conduct specialized grief and loss counseling, providing support to both residents and their families facing end-of-life challenges.

Your primary focus will be on elderly individuals, including seniors who are coping with loss, embracing lifestyle changes, or dealing with the emotional aspects of aging. This population requires a sensitive and patient-centered approach, where understanding their unique challenges and history is essential for effective intervention.

• A Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or a related field.
• Completion of a full-time clinical internship in a recognized mental health setting is mandatory.
• Eligibility for licensure in the state of Washington is required.
• A valid driver’s license in good standing to facilitate in-person consultations when necessary.
• Exceptional communication skills to foster trust and rapport quickly with clients and their families.
• A strong ability to listen empathetically while providing practical guidance and support.
• Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining records and treatment documentation.

• Prior experience working with seniors or in geriatric mental health is highly desirable.
• Proven track record in addiction counseling is a plus, as some clients may face substance-related issues.
• Knowledge of community resources available for elderly care and emotional support will be beneficial.
