Job description

DecisionPoint seeks a Senior System Administrator to provide senior-level systems administration, operations, maintenance, and technical support for Global Information Technology Support Services supporting the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) Deputy Chief of Staff for Information Management (G6). This position supports the administration, sustainment, security, and optimization of enterprise systems across classified and unclassified DoD environments.

The Senior System Administrator will support Windows server environments, Active Directory, SCCM, virtualization, storage, backup and recovery, enterprise services, vulnerability remediation, STIG implementation, and system documentation. The role requires experienced technical leadership in secure DoD IT environments and the ability to coordinate with Government stakeholders, cybersecurity personnel, network teams, service providers, and junior administrators to maintain system availability, performance, and compliance.

This position is fully on-site at Scott Air Force Base, IL.

The Senior System Administrator will: 

  • Serve as a technical lead for system administration activities, coordinating issue resolution and daily operations with Government, contractor, cybersecurity, network, application, and service provider teams. 
  • Install, configure, maintain, patch, monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize Army-approved server operating systems, Windows services, enterprise applications, and supporting infrastructure. 
  • Administer Active Directory and core enterprise services, including user and computer accounts, security groups, permissions, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, file shares, certificate services, DoD PKI, and email/account request processes. 
  • Manage virtual, storage, and backup environments, including virtual servers, hosts, clusters, VDI components, NAS/SAN resources, file permissions, replication, recovery, disaster recovery, and continuity of operations support. 
  • Support SCCM and endpoint management activities, including software packaging, imaging, operating system deployment, patch deployment, third-party software deployment, client health monitoring, inventory, and compliance reporting. 
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and sustain commercial and Government-provided software across approved operating systems, hardware platforms, and mission environments. 
  • Apply and document STIGs, vulnerability remediation, IAVA support, patching, POA&Ms, scan result review, compliance reporting, and other cybersecurity requirements. 
  • Provide technical artifacts and documentation supporting ATO, C&A, audits, SOPs, troubleshooting guides, system configurations, architecture diagrams, and accreditation packages. 
  • Monitor and resolve system administration trouble tickets, recommend improvements to performance, reliability, security, and infrastructure operations, and support contingency, emergency, exercise, surge, and after-hours requirements. 
  • Ensure all assigned activities comply with applicable DoD, Army, USTRANSCOM, SDDC, information assurance, cybersecurity, and operational requirements. 

Clearance Requirement:  

  • Must hold an active Secret clearance. 
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain required Common Access Card (CAC), facility access, system access, and Government network access. 

Education: 

  • High School Diploma (Required)
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline preferred.

Experience: 

  • Minimum 8 years of experience supporting systems administration, server administration, infrastructure operations, or enterprise IT support within DoD or federal environments. 
  • Experience administering Windows server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, permissions, file shares, and enterprise services. 
  • Experience supporting SCCM administration, software deployment, patch management, operating system deployment, imaging, software inventory, and compliance reporting. 
  • Experience administering virtualized environments, including virtual servers, workstations, hosts, clusters, datastores, resource pools, or virtual desktop infrastructure. 
  • Experience supporting storage administration, backup and recovery, data replication, disaster recovery, continuity of operations, and file storage services. 
  • Experience implementing DISA STIG requirements, supporting vulnerability remediation, maintaining compliance documentation, and supporting audit activities. 
  • Experience troubleshooting complex hardware, software, endpoint, server, application, storage, virtualization, and connectivity issues in secure enterprise environments. 
  • Experience coordinating with cybersecurity teams, network teams, service providers, Government stakeholders, and technical leads to resolve operational issues.
