Role: Sr. Windows Systems Administrator

Location: (Bronx, NY), Hybrid

Job Type: Contract

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Windows System Administrator to join our contract IT team. The ideal candidate will have 5 7 years of hands-on experience managing Windows environments and a strong understanding of SQL databases. The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining, securing, and optimizing our Windows-based infrastructure and supporting SQL systems that are critical to business operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, maintain, and optimize Windows Server environments (2016/2019/2022).
  • Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and Windows patching.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Implement, support and maintain backup/recovery solutions and disaster recovery plans.
  • Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server environments.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries and scripts for system automation and reporting.
  • Collaborate with development and application teams to ensure system compatibility and performance.
  • Collaborate with customers, adjacent technical teams and all level of management to address systems issues.
  • Maintain security best practices, including system hardening and vulnerability management.
  • Produce documentation for system configurations, procedures, and change controls.


Qualifications:

  • 5 7 years of experience in Windows system administration in mid to large-scale environments.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server (installation, maintenance, scripting, performance tuning).
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation.
  • Higher level of familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V and Nutanix).
  • Understanding of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs).
  • Knowledge of ITIL practices and change management processes is a plus.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
