Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a hands-on Windows Systems Engineer to support vulnerability remediation across enterprise Windows Server environments. This role focuses on identifying, investigating, and remediating vulnerabilities based on vulnerability management data. The engineer will independently navigate Windows environments, evaluate system configurations and software versions, determine appropriate remediation actions, implement required changes, and coordinate with application and business owners when work requires scheduling, change requests, downtime, or server reboots.
Responsibilities:

* Review vulnerability management data to identify Windows systems requiring remediation.

* Log in to Windows servers, investigate reported vulnerabilities, and determine whether findings apply to each system.

* Perform operating system, application, configuration, and registry remediation activities as required.

* Apply Windows updates, patches, and configuration changes to address identified vulnerabilities.

* Update or remove vulnerable, outdated, or unnecessary software applications.

* Perform registry changes and other Windows configuration updates, including basic Group Policy-related remediation where required.

* Validate remediation results and investigate potential false positives or non-applicable findings.

* Coordinate with application and business owners when remediation requires downtime, application coordination, or server reboots.

* Support change requests and scheduled remediation activities.

* Document remediation activities, results, and outstanding issues.

* Collaborate with vulnerability management, automation, and systems engineering teams to improve remediation processes.

* Identify recurring remediation patterns that may be candidates for future automation.

* Troubleshoot basic Windows Server operating system issues encountered during remediation.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

* Previous experience with vulnerability management or security remediation programs.

* Experience using vulnerability management platforms such as Tenable, Nessus, or similar technologies.

* Experience with Windows Group Policy and Active Directory.
