Global MSAT Senior Engineer/Scientist Lead - International Tech Transfer
Location: On-site, Portsmouth, NH. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates and their families.
The Global MSAT Senior Tech Transfer Lead is a strategic position directly leveraging substantial existing knowledge and expertise in Biological Tech Transfer to influence and oversee the implementation and adherence to best practices for Tech Transfer between sites. This would suit candidates with substantial experience of personally leading Tech Transfer, scale up and the management of strategic projects involving extensive customer interaction.

What you will do:
  • Responsible for the technical oversight of international tech transfers including all aspects of process transfer Stages of Work.
  • Coordinating cross site with network peers to ensure successful outcomes in terms of cost, timeline and customer objectives.
  • Represent the Global MSAT technical function acting as chaperone for the oversight, preparation and execution of site to site transfers, collaborating with sending and receiving sites ensuring adherence to best practice.
  • Represent the MSAT function working cross site and cross functionally with R&D and PD to implement to desired timelines innovative and new process technologies.
  • Make technical decisions and ensure successful transfer to manufacturing of pre commercial projects identifying and resolving technical problems as required.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of structured technical or business improvements to ensure continuous improvements in project tech transfer execution and customer project outcomes.
  • Attend and represent Lonza's scientific reputation at customer project meetings in areas of expertise e.g. Technical Transfers, process scale up, etc.

What we are looking for:
  • Bachelor's Degree is required. Master's or PhD is preferred. Area of study: Biological Science, Biochemical Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry (6+ years of experience with Master's, 5+ with PhD) with a strong background in manufacturing science and technology.
  • Substantial experience with bioprocessing and personally leading technology transfers for both Single Use and Stainless Steel based operations with infield expertise across scales between 1K and 20K e.g. From within Mammalian cell culture, Process Development, USP MSAT or GMP operations.
  • Significant experience of working across GMP sites, functions and boundaries.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work cross functionally both with internal and external customers at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated resilience and can do attitude.
