SENIOR SUPERINTENDENT – COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION

A well-established commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Superintendent to join their team in the Portland market. This is a confidential opportunity with a respected, established contractor that has a strong reputation for quality construction, repeat clients, and a collaborative project environment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commercial construction background and proven experience leading projects in the field. Healthcare construction experience is highly preferred, including hospitals, medical office buildings, healthcare tenant improvements, renovations, or similar complex facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide overall field leadership and supervision for commercial construction projects.
• Manage day-to-day site operations from mobilization through project completion.
• Lead and coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
• Develop, maintain, and communicate project schedules and milestones.
• Coordinate closely with Project Managers, owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
• Monitor quality and ensure construction is completed in accordance with plans, specifications, and project requirements.
• Maintain a strong focus on jobsite safety and enforce project safety standards.
• Identify and resolve field issues, conflicts, and schedule challenges.
• Review plans, specifications, and drawings and coordinate construction activities accordingly.
• Manage RFIs, inspections, punch lists, and other project documentation.
• Participate in project meetings and maintain effective communication with the project team and client.
• Mentor and develop Assistant Superintendents and other field personnel.
• Maintain a professional, organized, and safe jobsite throughout the project.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 8+ years of commercial construction experience with significant Superintendent-level experience.
• Proven ability to independently lead complex commercial construction projects.
• Healthcare construction experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with hospitals, medical office buildings, healthcare tenant improvements, or occupied healthcare facilities is highly desirable.
• Ground-up construction and/or major renovation experience.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction means, methods, scheduling, and sequencing.
• Proven ability to manage subcontractors and coordinate multiple trades.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• OSHA 30 or equivalent safety training preferred.
• Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction technology is a plus.

IDEAL BACKGROUND

The client is particularly interested in Superintendents who have successfully led complex commercial projects and can take ownership of the field from start to finish.

Healthcare experience is a major plus, but candidates with strong backgrounds in other complex commercial markets—including education, multifamily, hospitality, industrial, municipal, and large-scale renovation—may also be considered.
