Job description

About the Position

The Senior Strategic Analyst works in our Finance division, developing and monitoring strategic objectives and key initiatives as part of a corporate strategy team that works directly with Power Design senior leadership. This role provides insights and information-based context for key stakeholders in the business unit to effectively manage, influence, and impact strategy. Uses quantitative and qualitative analysis to provide thought-leadership on evolving industry trends, market developments, regulatory environment, and macroeconomic trends at the business unit and corporate levels.

The expectation is to effectively manage individual work streams and communicate analyses within the team and with senior leadership. Well-versed in project management, business analytics and strategic projects, this role will assist the Director of Strategy in growing and maturing the Office of Strategic Management (OSM) to its full scope of responsibilities, including coaching/supervising less experienced team members.

Position Details/Responsibilities

Strategic Execution/Monitoring

  • Evaluate progress towards strategic objectives and potential risks to strategic goals using a balanced scorecard approach; this includes maintenance of a strategic tracking system
  • Provide appropriate visibility of progress to senior leadership in order to maintain focus, improve prioritization, and catalyze necessary decision making

Business Planning/Strategic Development

  • Assist with development of business unit-specific strategies in collaboration with senior leadership
  • Build and/or maintain complex financial and operational models
  • Work effectively with qualitative and quantitative data to form strategic insights related to profitability, growth, and productivity
  • Convey findings in a cohesive story, including summarizing insights from analysis, identifying next steps and developing implementation plans. This includes publishing formal business plans annually
  • Provide research and analytical support for enterprise level strategy and/or initiatives

Here's What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's OR Master's Degree in Business, Finance/Accounting, Economics, Construction Management or another related discipline is required.
  • 7-10+ years of experience in data/analytics, strategy consulting, or related business experience. Construction industry experience is a plus.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, most critically executives and senior leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to build credibility as a "peer" across all levels.
  • Confidentiality - Very high level of respect for information sensitivity and security.
  • Financial acumen - Understanding and experience applying corporate finance concepts (cash flow, capital investment, ROI, payback, etc).
  • Analytical skills - Strong quantitative background; ability to create complex and/or detailed financial and operational models and influence business decisions; experience with evaluating data quality - accuracy, completeness, organization, etc.
  • Problem solving skills - Ability to structure ambiguous problems, think creatively, generate and test hypotheses.
  • Presentation skills - Comfortable putting together story lines in PowerPoint.
  • Communication skills - Ability to synthesize and convey research/analyses to senior management.
  • Management skills - Ability to drive multiple pieces of work forward simultaneously, and achieve project objectives/deadlines as part of a team.
